  1. i agree, this is a 'good sign' of popularity. as a daily user of shyftr....yes;
    >>is being used as a near realtime content discovery and sharing tool, <<
a user expectation is somewhat fickle thing at best. your work and implementation with shyftr have been spot on so far.
i sign on, i get my feeds, i see if others have something to share, i sometimes comment. what is important is that i can do this quickly and efficiently. not bogged down with unnecessary bloat. so far, you guys have done the job well.
imho; what makes shyftr different, and frankly better that the others......it works. it works cleanly and i can get on with my day.

  2. I am confused, because I am not so smart. No data is being removed, but the statistics change? (Reads again and again) - louisgray   - 06/01/2008
  3. Two things: Older feed content is going to be archived (not accessible), and numbers that track new items for your feeds will be limited to a month. We haven't yet decided how far back accessible feed content will go. Whether it'll be 3 months, 6 months, etc. But I'd love to hear how far back people read their feeds so that we can make an informed decision. - Dave   - 06/01/2008

  3. My old boss and a good friend is the co-founder of Drobo. It's interesting to see people thinking these are expensive. It's some good technology there, and in theory, it should last you a real long time and keep your data safe. What's more important than your data? - louisgray   - 05/30/2008

  3. you could keep your own phone number, but I would keep the blackberry if they are paying. I needed to switch carriers and it was less expensive to get an iphone. It may be the best phone I have ever had. However, I was much quicker texting on the pearl. - michael   - 05/26/2008

  1. Huge news out of the expo... TC reports someone photographed a Google booth after, get this, being told not to. 2008 has already proven to be an earth shattering year for the Web 2.0 expo. news!! Really intense stuff...

    OR

Father Kills Son in Hunting Accident

  1. How can you mistake a child for a turkey. If this boy was outfitted in the proper hunting garb; orange vest/jacket and cap he should of been easily seen. If the boy was not properly outfitted then shame on the father and throw the book at him. He was responsible for this child and he robbed him of his life.

BlogPulse Offers Insight into Blog Trends, Conversations and Influence

  1. This is an odd thing, in that BlogPulse looked interesting when I first found it, but they haven't updated their metrics since Monday. Why would that be? Is it a one-person shop? - louisgray   - 04/17/2008
  2. Definitely looked interesting when I read your blog post overviewing the service. It does kind of defeat the point if your a metrics business and your charts aren't updating daily. - Dave   - 04/18/2008
  3. Interesting.... although, because the service is unique perhaps it's weekly... a retrospective look at the past week is better than no look.

I imagine as they gain traction they will be able to update daily/multiple times a day... from a technical standpoint I can imagine the processes at work there are very intensive. Either way... it's an interesting service to keep an eye on even if it's not a daily destination just yet.

Is fav.or.it a Google Reader replacement?

  2. It is intended to be. But to be honest, if you move past the GUI and keyboard shortcuts, the reason I can't leave Google Reader is the link blog. It powers so many things now. - louisgray   - 04/15/2008
  3. In the initial outset I believed there was potential for fav.or.it but I think they loss the badwagon by not inputting enough work into the infastructure and gaining moer publicity that was more then needed for that time. Do not get me wrong, publicity is great, but it was bad timing. Fav.or.it had the motto of explaning RSS to my Dad, but who was doing the explaining? A bunch of geeks! there was not a clear defining line between what caters for the publisher and user. The underlining principal was idealistic, but in a fast paced information age you have to be aggressive and timely in the manner you approach technology and deliver, in an every saturated market; shyftr has done a better job. You decide what you want and see if anyone has something to offer that you have missed, related or popular. The next person does not make the desicion for you. If fav.or.it wants to get back in the game in needs to shift (oops did not mean to use that word to sound like shyftr ) its direction and really get on the ball. - rapidfireblog   - 04/15/2008
