  1. brian, I STILL would NOT believe that story if the brother's themselves told me to the face... fact: they knew the product they had built infringed the intellectual property rights of someone else. They were wrong to have done what they did and the community was wrong to treat Hasbro as an oppressor and suggest that they reward the brother's bad choice. The brother's, in reality, committed a crime... no letter writing should matter....

let's say I want to chop down the tree in your yard... i'll send you a letter. If you don't respond to me then I will assume it is ok to go ahead and break this law because i never heard back from you... ignoring idiotic requests is the same as saying yes to them, right? wrong. The only party that ignored letters here was the brothers, when they ignored the C&D letters from Hasbro. Hasbro went as far as telling Facebook to remove the application.... listen, there is no argument for "they didn't know, they thought it was ok".. that's just bull. they took a risk, it blew up in their face... boo hoo. I would feel more sorry for them had they not profited but they did profile, a lot... so they made their bed, now they get to lie in it.

hasbro ftw. sorry, but that's where i stand on this one.

signage such as technology may be harmful to your health like signage or stupid people should avoid technology type signage or the heavens shall part and the end of the world is at hand type of signage? i get so confused and i am just thankful for mcdonalds letting me know that my coffee is hot. !!!!!!!!!!
oh god; deliver us from this.... please.

i know it is scary and god knows i have be just as bone headed as the next person, but are we so dependent on EVERYTHING except our brains? maybe it's me this morning, not sure, i just see this as one of those strange things that could be avoided by thinking. and; i am not inferring anything on the individuals here, i have been in the zone myself, but now my excuse is my GPS ( read as any tech product). as a species, i know we can do better.

ok i will shut up now and enjoy my blissful ignorance.

  1. @briansolomon When you're reading the feed in the reader, you will be able to view the full post if the publisher is distributing it in full. Around discussions, we're only displaying the title and author - not the body. - Dave   - 04/15/2008
  2. After using shyftr for about 10 minutes, my main concern is that when I click on a link in the Popular section, I am not given more information instantly about the original article in question. It almost adds an extra unneeded step between me and the website who's content I am trying to read. Take this post for example, this is all the information I'm given upfront:

"Fine, I'll Say It: Shyftr Crosses The Line
    3 days ago"

Wheres the beef? How am I expected to comment on an article when I have only a faint idea of what it encompasses?
    - Jeebus   - 04/15/2008
  3. Jeebus, we absolutely understand your concern. It was also important that we listen to the concerns of the bloggers that were upset. After listening to those concerns and discussing the issue internally, this was the format that we chose. I think in time we'll be able to build a bridge that establishes an ideal experience for everyone. Thanks for sharing your opnion. - Dave   - 04/16/2008

  1. Not so - rarely do I have the time to read what everyone says except a few people I actually want to (top bloggers/friends/family)...that conversation most likely does not happen on the blog itself. FriendFeed is doing a great job of solving this issue for me. - parterburn   - 04/12/2008
  2. If Shyftr wasn't delivering a solution to what people were looking for, building a community and offering a repository for shared comments to RSS feeds, it would fade on its own. But it does offer an interesting service that has a niche. Maybe that niche can grow over time so it is on par with the bigger guys. - louisgray   - 04/12/2008
  3. I love Shyftr more and more everyday. I'm reading content I would otherwise never get around to looking at because of the streamlined nature. I was not a blog/news reader before this site because I have such fragmented and specific interests.

So do you want me read what you have to say or not, bloggers?

  1. @brian: i'm gonna have to agree... they went with the "extra long cord" as opposed to the "invisible, non-existent cord"... i don't know why.

@suggs: yes! the power glove... it made that kid run off in that "Wizard" movie with fred savage back in the day.

  3. the bigger only sony titles are towards the end of the year really. MGS4 and Resistance 2 for shooters. i don't really play grand turismo, that may be soon. of course for rpg's there is final fantasy xiii. i think the next big title at least the one getting a lot of press(mostly for being late) is HAZE. the other big news which is really stirring the pot is HOME. that will be big and hopefully here soon. - MageThufer   - 04/05/2008

  3. awesome, brian! BandFind ftw!!

i might disagree about the target market being too small. There are at least 7 cities who's local music scene alone is enough to carry a service like this very far, that's not including players with national exposure already... if their tools facilitate the type of networking that people in the music business benefit from then they can do well. So while it might not be the next myspace, I'm fairly confident the founders are cool with that...
