1. Sad as it may be, even in southwest North Dakota, I still know people who don't know how to jump their own car, so this could be quite useful for them. 1. A huge increase in "use", possibly... a huge increase in "user-base", I doubt. Basically, the people who are already AT FriendFeed might sporadically activate this feature, but this will not "reach across the aisle" so to speak... If you ask Twitter why IM is not coming back they will tell you flat out, not that many people used it... so what makes FriendFeed think they will be any different? (FriendFeed different than Twitter?? ... oh lord, nobody tell the giant herd-of-lame that participated in those "TwitOut"s where they would all go to FriendFeed for the day and pretend it was even half as cool as Twitter...) (Sure, maybe a larger PERCENTAGE of their users will use it.. but they have a pittance of the amount of users that Twitter has... so perhaps all the IM users from Twitter* are comfortably settled into FriendFeed and they will ALL use it.... but I'm gonna go ahead and doubt it.)

2. I was a Twitter junkie, until they axed IM. The updates seem stuttery without it, and then it disrupts my workflow, with IM everything just clicked along smoothly for me.

3. @thattalldude I loved the IM at Twitter, too... And unfortunately IMIfied is really sparse and unreliable, most of the AIR Apps are a much better option but I don't want to open an entire application just for Twitter... I miss having IM on Twitter for all the reasons you said... (i'd pay a small fee to have it back even) - Matt   - 11/08/2008

2. It is indeed that one. It's really nice, the only issue I've had is I can't use my DVI connection, but that's an issue with my computer, not the monitor. It's a pleasure to watch Knight Rider in 720p every week too!
   
   Studies show that 24" monitors bring peak efficiency, but this entire computer doubles as my entertainment center, so I love it anyway.
   
   Now, to replace that piddly little 21" with a 24", and add another 24" too. - thattalldude   - 10/24/2008

8. No, there are much more devices much more useful to me below that price: iphone, new macbook or asus n10, hmd, tts, new software... it's nice to play chess, share pictures and browse google earth/maps in this way though... but how often do you do that? - fsiefken   - 10/16/2008

5. i agree, this is a 'good sign' of popularity. as a daily user of shyftr....yes;

   a user expectation is somewhat fickle thing at best. your work and implementation with shyftr have been spot on so far.
   i sign on, i get my feeds, i see if others have something to share, i sometimes comment. what is important is that i can do this quickly and efficiently. not bogged down with unnecessary bloat. so far, you guys have done the job well.
   imho; what makes shyftr different, and frankly better that the others......it works. it works cleanly and i can get on with my day. - MageThufer   - 05/31/2008

7. Two things: Older feed content is going to be archived (not accessible), and numbers that track new items for your feeds will be limited to a month. We haven't yet decided how far back accessible feed content will go. Whether it'll be 3 months, 6 months, etc. But I'd love to hear how far back people read their feeds so that we can make an informed decision. - Dave   - 06/01/2008
